Thrift Store Finds.....

I've been on the hunt for a new headboard for months now. When I finally decided to make my own I ran across this gem. I stopped over at Habitat for Humanity looking for some side table that would work with my design scheme on another project, and low and behold the design Gods we shinning down on me. This queen size headboard was priced at $25.00 and I was not about to let it pass me bye. I'm so excited to get started working on it. A little TLC is all this headboard needs and I'm ready to nurture it. Headboard make over take one.  There are plenty of unseen treasures at your local thrift store. If you are a DIYer like myself take some time to shop your local stores before diving into your next project. You might find it a little more satisfying doing the work yourself and a bit more budget friendly by going the thrift store route.

Summer Porches.....

Do you have a nice airy porch that you are not taking advantage of this summer. Well it's never too late for a summer porch makeover. Here are a few cool porches that make me just want to hang out all day with a lemonade and my laptop. If your up for the decorating challenge here are a few tips that might help you along the way. First, make it comfy. There's nothing worst than a space that looks extremely nice but is extremely  uncomfortable at the same time. Yard sale's and flea markets are a great way to find furniture that is suitable for a porch makeover. Choose fabric that will weather the storm. Sometimes the weather changes up on us in the blink of an eye, no one wants to make a b-line to the porch to save pillows due to sudden weather changes. Lastly, give your porch personality. When your chillin' out on a warm summer day, you want your neighbors to drive bye and admire what they see. Summer's not over yet, there's still time to make the best of it.

Sneak Peak..... Anything For You Mommy

Hey all it's been a couple of weeks since I last blogged, and for good reason. I started on a project that is very near and dear to my heart. I've started the makeover for my mothers room. This is such a tough one, because it's my mom. I want everything to be perfect, which means I need to do it myself. I am very big on DIY and I'm having fun doing it. It may take me close to forever to finish up, but it's okay because it's for my mommy. Yes I do still call her Mommy =). So just a sneak peek of where I'm going with this project.
Can't give away too much but it seems to be coming together very well. This was the easy part of it all. She needed a new work space, and my mom don't tell her I told you seems to like a little clutter in her life. So I did her a favor and revamped her work space. I figure if I showed her what less is more looks like she just might roll with it. Stay tuned for the final reveal.
