Window Shopping...

Who wants a chic and trendy living room? I know I do. The pieces that you see here can all be found at CB2, and I seem to have fallen in Love with each and every one of them. The lemongrass textured couch is definitely appealing to the eye. Once I fell in love with this couch I wondered what I could pair with it to make a beautiful space. So I browsed, I mixed, I matched, and If I had my way this is what my Funky but Chic living room would look like. How cool is that beehive style bookcase "Love It". Matching furniture pieces can become boring after a while. If you mix it up a little bit it gives your space much more life, allows you to show your true style through your furniture pieces.

Mirrors That I Love

I love mirrors for so many different reasons. They can be very fun and decorative, they help to bounce light around the room, and they are great space fillers for empty walls. Mirrors can range in cost from $20.00 - over $300.00, depending on how fancy you want to get. Here are a few mirrors that would add flare to any space.

Ikea Love.....

I got a chance to go to Ikea with my beau yesterday to browse, shop, and get some great ideas for up coming projects. Ikea is a great one stop shop if you are decorating on a budget. While walking around we began to discuss his design style. I was so interested in knowing what his likes and dislikes were when it comes to interior decor. He explained in so many words that he enjoys light colors, he also stated that he liked pastels which tickled me pink on the inside. I'm just going to assume he was gearing towards natural and neutral colors. With his cool calm and collective personality in mind the design ideas started to flow. With Ikea being a one stop shop this is what I came up with. All items on this page can be found at Ikea.

Fun Finds...... Yarn Wreaths

I found these very cute and creative handmade wreaths featured in a new online magazine Southern Flourish. You can find them on Etsy sold by Itz Fitz. I can't even put it into words how much I adore these wreathes. I would love to purchase one, but the DIYer in me just won't allow it. These are the perfect door decor for the Holidays or special occasion. Love It!

Camp Snoop

Camp Snoopy was inspired by my love of the peanut gang.  While pregnant with my son I felt this was the perfect time to let my inner child shine through. Somehow early on in my pregnancy I knew in my heart of all hearts that I would have a very active, and rambunctious little boy on my hands. I wanted to design a room that would act as a nursery as well as a toddle room. I choose a bed that would convert into a full size bed, which would allow me to keep the furniture for as long as I possible could. The dressers in the room allowed for a changing table that could later be used to place a television along with smaller nick-knacks. This adorable bedding that I found for the crib with Snoopy and Woodstock engaging in sports inspired the over-all decor in the room. A few pictures of the peanut gang hanging on the walls and my own little camp snoopy was finally complete.

Monday

Work Space Creativity.

It's a rainy Monday here in Los Angeles today, which makes it a little hard to focus on work when you just want to be in a warm bed. So now that I've peeled myself out of bed and had a cup of hot tea to get me going I'm focused. I realized this morning that some of the most important people in my life are moving to other states, and my social life will slowly come to a halt. So what can I do with all of the spare time I will have pretty soon? Work, Work, Work, is the answer that I came up with. Here are a few   creative home office work spaces that inspired me to get going.  Ready, Set, Go!!!!!!!!!!!

Be Bold with Color......

Have you ever walked into a room and the entire room seemed bland and boring. Those old outdated white walls and the late 80's style furniture. The person that invited you over wants to give you a tour of the entire house and your body just cringes as  you walk through it. Or is it just me? Color can be your friend and revitalize your home. If you want to change the feel and the mood of a room the right color can do the trick. Colors can also make a room appear larger or smaller based on the color that is chosen.  The easiest way to choose a color that is right for your space is to use a color wheel. A color wheel is the best  way to visualize how hues relate to each other. You can draw color inspiration from just about everything in your everyday life. Your favorite vacation spot, your favorite coffee shop, magazines, books, etc, the options are limitless.

ReDesigns.......

I've decided to enter the "Ready Aim Redesign" contest that Dwell magazine is hosting. I'm so excited about this opportunity. For all who know me, know the one thing I love to do is redesign. A trip to the goodwill store can and has been turned into a living room makeover. Everything old has the potential to become new again with a little TLC. Here are a few of my redesigns, and makeovers. The first set of photo's are of a mirrored tray that belonged to my mother. She's had this tray for years, and I've always admired how elegant it appeared on her dresser with all her fancy perfumes being showcased on it. How I sweet talked her into giving it to me I'll never tell, but it's mine now. I figured with a new vibrant color I could make it fit my style perfectly. The second set of photo's are of another piece that has been around the house for a long while. My dad loved to keep a nice bottle of wine on hand for any unexpected occasion. I just couldn't part with the wine rack at the garage sale. It had so much potential. The last set of photo's are these small side tables that my friend parents had in their back yard. These tables were so fun to redesign. I was told do what you like, music to my ears. These tables were used for a summer time  back yard birthday bash. So the bright colors seemed appropriate. I'm really unsure about what it is that I will redesign for this contest, but what ever it is I will keep you all posted thought out the process.
