Closet Saver..... Shoe Bags Edition.

Ladies, Ladies, Ladies, let me introduce you to the best thing that has happened to my closet. Hello shoe bags, how are you and why did it take me so long to bring you into my world. This shoe bag is my take on a shoe organizational tip my mom gave me a long time ago. As a kid my mother made me organize her shoes every weekend in the summer to earn money for back to school shopping. I truly thank her, in the end it instilled a sense of responsibility in me I would not appreciate until later on in life. But any way my mom had these clear shoe boxes that had a Polaroid picture of the shoes that were to go into that box on the exterior. Seemingly making my job a bit easier, but she had what felt like close to a million pairs of shoes. I decided to make these bags for myself with the thought of my mom's old closet in the back of my head. BEST thing that's happen to my closet thus far. These bags are available for purchase, they are custom make to size and customer style. Shoot me a quick email at mydesign80@gmail.com for more details or if your in the area this weekend stop bye the Home Fabrics & Rugs craft fair in Torrance where I will also have them for sale.

Magazine Love..... Better Homes and Gardens.

The August issue of Better Homes and Gardens is now on newsstands with our beautiful First Lady Mrs. Michelle Obama featured on the cover. The First Lady is the first public figure to be featured on the cover of the magazine since 1963. Outfitted in a blue sundress with a bright yellow cardigan, she looks fabulous (as Always). The photo is taken at a picnic table on the white house grounds, with a table covered in fruits and veggies that she's grown in her own garden. The First Lady is on a mission to educate people on the benefits of eating healthier, and living a healthier lifestyle. This issue could not have come at a better time for me. My mother and I and making plans to start our own garden and start down the path to a healthier lifestyle. I'm pretty sure the First Lady has a few good tips to share with us all.

Fun At The Fair..... Reneagade Craft fair

It’s kind of late in the week, but that’s ok I’ve been working hard this week on a mobile home project. I still want to re-cap about the Renegade Craft Fair. This past Saturday I took the family out for a day of fun filled crafts at the 3rd Annual Renegade Craft Fair, and we enjoyed every minute of it. So many great vendors at the fair, there was so much to choose from. I have a love like no other for hand made items. They seem to have more love and creativity in each piece. We are all students in life, and there’s always something new to learn. I learned a lot about crafting ,and picked up a few projects to try at home myself at this fair. It was very family friendly, my son and I enjoyed creating a few crafts of our own to take home. There was inspiration in the air I could just smell it. I learned so much, saw plenty, and picked up a few items that were simply must haves. Over all if you have a love for good quaintly crafts check out Renegade for the links to the vendor that participated in the fair.

Creative Thinking.... The New Bookcase!

There are plenty of things in this world I wish I would have thought of first and these takes on bookcases happens to be one of them. I just love a creative thinker. Someone that thinks outside the box, goes against all things that we would consider normal. My mother is a book lover, I would not say she has a passion for reading because she owns more books on tape than actual books, but she does love to have a book laying around here and there, maybe everywhere. While recently trying to figure out a way to display her books and cut down on some of the clutter all at the same time I ran across these creative furniture pieces that just blew my mind. This new take on the bookcase is one I'm falling in love with. If you have a passion for reading and good design I just can't imagine you not being in love with one of these pieces. And the clock in the last photo is just down right Bananas. LOVE IT!

Jay and Gloria's Home

Jay and Gloria's Home

ABC's Modern Family is hands down one of my Favorite TV shows. If you have not tuned into an episode you are first of all LAME, and are missing out on life and good TV. Well maybe your not lame, but you should really check out the show. One of the things I Love the most about the show is of course the set design. Each families home is just beautiful and makes you feel as if you want to go hang out for brunch there. I love the pillows on the couch in Phil and Claire's living room. For one reason or another my eyes are just naturally drawn to them. The art work on the wall in Mitchell and Cameron's living room adds just a bit of color to their neutral color scheme. Oh and you can't help but love the mural of the two guys on the wall in their daughters nursery. How funny, but yet brilliant is that. Jay and Gloria's home is just one to die for. The very simple yet contemporary look of the home just makes my heart flutter. Nothing lifts my spirits like a good laugh and great design. Two thumbs up to ABC, be on the look out for season 3 this coming September.
